Norpro Stainless Steel Scoops-1 Tbsp
One of my favorite hors d’oeuvre to make when I have company is gougères: those airy, cheesy puffs that melt in your mouth. The hardest thing about gougères is dealing with the sticky dough. I tried the two spoon method and gave up; and for me it was just too thick to put through a piping bag. What I found that really worked used to be called an “ice cream scoop”, but is now better known in its new role as a “cookie scoop”, “melon baller”, or “disher”.
What makes these Cool Tools work so well, is the little “finger” that runs along the inside of the scoop when you squeeze the handle, releasing even the stickiest dough onto your baking sheet. It solves my gougères problem...but it does so much more.
