Everybody loves a breakfast centered around a freshly-toasted English Muffin (OK: if you don’t, then skip to the next article!). And one of the endearing (and delicious) characteristics of an English Muffin is the existence of "nooks and crannies", which toast up crunchy and hold whatever you spread on the Muffin. But in order to preserve those lovely ‘nooks & crannies’, you need to split your Muffin (or biscuit, scone, or crumpet) in just the right way: the oft-mentioned ‘fork-split’ style that you can’t quite seem to master with a simple dinner fork!
And as much as we love knives for so many cooking tasks, a basic knife is not the appropriate tool to split an English Muffin: you need a purpose-built “Splitter”, in order to achieve the desired result ... preserving those 'nooks & crannies' to receive your butter, poached egg yolk, marmalade, or ....
