As many varieties of rice, as well as a wide variety of grains, have come back into fashion from both culinary and health perspectives, the question now is what’s the easiest way to cook them with the best results.
The options range from boiling in water to using an expensive electric rice cooker, with lots of choices in-between.
Our go-to method for rice has been the stovetop “pilaf” method in the Indian or Turkish style. But we always had to watch the time, and occasionally we let it go too long and had a few disasters.
