Cool Tip: Separate this...

Separating an Egg

We’ll admit that we’re kitchen geeks, so sometimes the things that we think are really cool are lost on normal folks. But here’s something that we think everyone will find cool: It’s the best way we’ve ever seen to separate an egg.

When your recipe calls for dealing with the egg yolk and the white separately, you can crack an egg and let the white run through your fingers while holding the yolk in your hand--that works, but it’s a little yucky. Or you can transfer the yolk from one half of the egg shell to the other, while letting the egg white drip into a bowl. Or you can buy one of those silly gadgets (as distinguished from Cool Tools) that you crack the egg into and the yolk stays in the center while the white drips through the openings around the center.

But this technique blows all of these others away--this is by far the coolest way we’ve seen to separate an egg yolk from the egg white, and you can use it to entertain your kids or grandkids and amaze your friends!

(And our thanks and 100 Cooks’ Club Points each to Laudie and Lucy for passing this one on to us!)
