OK, let’s face it: unless you’re a new cook or have a new kitchen, you all have measuring cups of some sort, whether of the dry ingredients variety: individual graduated cups that let you measure to the top and then scrape of the excess with a knife, or the wet variety: one cup that’s marked with measurements, and you fill to that line.
So we’re going to go out on a limb here and say that you probably don’t need another measuring cup. But if you’re like us, you’ll want this one, or the whole set. So, you may ask, what’s so special up these measuring cups? Fair question, here’s the answer ...
The OXO Adjustable Measuring Cup is a plunger style: this differentiating feature makes all the difference. What that means to you is that, instead of having to dig the honey, yogurt, peanut butter, Crisco, or other semi-solid substance out of your standard measuring cups, with this measuring cup you just twist the plunger up and the measured ingredient pops out. You’ll be amazed at how often this comes in handy. All you do is set the depth of the plunger to the measurement you want, put the ingredient you’re measuring into the cup, and then just twist to move the plunger up to eject the ingredient into your mixing bowl.
The other advantage is that these cups are marked for both liquid and dry measurements. As we stated in the Cool Tip, there is a difference, but with this measuring cup, because it has markings for both, you can use this one measuring cup for both wet and dry ingredients. And the inner gasket assures a precise seal, for accurate measurement.
And while there have been other plunger-style measuring cups on the market, this one by OXO is the best we’ve found because an internal track lets the cup both adjust smoothly to the desired measurement marking and remain securely in place so that your measurement doesn’t change. We personally love this style measuring cup, and were delighted when OXO introduced this one that improves on the original design.
