Lékué has developed a range of food-safe microwave cooking tools, for cooking almost every special purpose dish and cooking technique: for grains, vegetables, and proteins of almost every form. Now they’ve combined two PFOA-free and BPA-free coated steel grilling surfaces, held together with Platinum Silicone ‘handles’ and ‘clamps’, to enable safe ‘grilling’ in the microwave oven !
In this best of all worlds, the silicone keeps the steel at a safe distance: to avoid ‘arcing’ of the electromagnetic impulses from the oven. The ribbed PFOA-free and BPA-free coated steel sets a hot surface for grilling everything from vegetables, to meats and fish, to a simple grilled cheese sandwich, and a croque monsieur or the most elaborate panini you can construct! A detailed recipe book is included; your microwave oven may vary so some experimentation may be required.
For the grilled cheese or panini, simply oil or butter the outside surfaces of the bread, preheat the Grill in the microwave oven insert the desired cheese (and meat, pickles, etc.) between the slices of bread, secure the sandwich in place, then grill and enjoy! Nylon tools only - no knives! It breaks down easily for dishwasher cleanup and easily reassembles for convenient storage.
