Proud Grill Q-Swiper Grill Cleaner - P51
If you have a grill - outdoors or indoors - then you know you have to clean it! Sometimes you can minimize that effort by using a Grill Mat, but that doesn’t always cover the entire cooking surface or contain all the ‘mess’ … so you need a tool, to get the job done well!
But there is a horror story behind those ‘wire brushes’ that we’ve been using all these years! This is a true horror story, told to us by one of our great customers, when we showed him some of our new product offerings.
The short version of the story is that one of those small (1½”/4cm) wire bristles detached from a wire brush. The host didn’t know this had happened and, probably just like most of us, he didn’t think about it: the bristles are so small you don’t notice if one comes off and you probably think it fell through to the tray underneath. Right? I know I’ve never thought twice about something like this. Wrong!
One of those detached bristles apparently stuck to one of his grill grates and, when he next cooked a burger on the grill, the detached bristle cooked into the burger. A guest ate the burger and later developed severe abdominal pain. After ruling out other issues, an x-ray showed that missing bristle, deep inside the guest’s digestive tract, where it had punctured the intestinal wall! Surgical removal followed.
The story finally ended well, but it has at least two morals. First, stop using those wire bristle brushes to clean your outdoor cooking surfaces! And second, find a safer tool for that task! We’ve done both and we are pleased now to offer the Q-Swiper system from Proud Grill!
We’ve included the “before & after” pictures of our outdoor grill: following a full winter of non-use, and one section after using the Q-Swiper! The results are quick and thorough!
The Q-Swiper Grill Cleaning Wipes are moistened with natural, food safe cleaning agents, derived from corn and coconuts. The Wipes are rectangular in form with 3D Cleaning Nodules on their surface. They attach easily to the bristle-free Q-Swiper Handle, when firmly wrapped around and pressed into the grips on the 4 corners of the top.
The easy-to-use Handle sits on top of a ¾”/2cm thick dacron polyester base that, although it looks like a ‘scrubber’, is the well-designed ‘reinforcement’ behind the Wipes; it is BPA-free and includes an attached stainless steel scraper blade for those really nasty spots.
When fully assembled, you simply swipe grease and grime from the grilling surface and between the grates: the photo of our grill shows our cleaning results using just one Wipe. Don’t forget to firmly re-seal the package flap to keep the Wipes moist and to discard the used Wipe after each use. The Kit includes a starter pack of 25 Wipes; additional Wipes are available in 40-count packages.
The Q-Swiper system is ideal for all grilling surfaces, including stainless steel, porcelain coatings, and cast iron, and is especially useful for public grills and tail-gating events. The Handle may be hand washed, but should not be cleaned in your dishwasher.
This is a very Cool Tool … the perfect ending to a real horror story: one that we hope you personally never experience!
